The State of Kansas has only had 1 person sign up for this opportunity. If you  or someone you know  is potentially interested in joining the most rewarding profession (EDUCATION) please send them my way. We have the opportunity to help someone get in on the ground floor of this new program model and build up our own system with more top notch educators! RJH Track after Plainville
This young man had a day he will never forget. Layd'n Hinderliter is a sophomore at 1A Chase High School. He has battled cancer for the past eight years which is more than half his life. He goes in for treatments every six weeks. Today he achieved one of his biggest goals in athletics. He qualified for the KSHSAA Sand Green State Tournament. Sand Green competitions does not have a regional. If a player shoots a 95 or better during any tournament, they qualify. Today, at the McCracken Golf Course, Layd'n shot a 90 to earn his spot. He fired a 41 on the backside, which was near the best back nine schores if not the best on the Par 35 layout. #sportsinkansas

Four Chase High School students attended the 49th Annual High School Art Exhibition at Fort Hays State University. Not only did students enter artwork for competition, students competed against each other in a chalk drawing contest themed, "Fairytale Mischief." Each school that entered received two sidewalk cement slabs. Numbers at the Art Exhibition were broken this year with 70 schools attending that brought a total of 1200 students. It was a beautiful day to create art outdoors.

USD 401 is excited to announce that we received the 2023 Children's Health Grant for $5,000. We were able to purchase two new filtered water fountains (with bottle-filling stations). One will be placed in the smaller gym in the secondary building and the other will be near the intermediate wing of the elementary building. These will be installed over the summer! We were also able to get water fountain filters for the next couple of years as well as water bottles for all of our students! Thank you Mrs. Staten for your time spent on this project/grant.

I am so excited to share with all our elementary school students, a brand-new summer program here at the fairgrounds. Much like our spring field trips, this summer program will explore agriculture through stories, hands-on projects, and the creation of delicious treats to eat. There will be six Saturday sessions, each will have the same topic so students can come to the date that works best for them. Payment will not be due until they check in on the day of the session. Any questions can be directed to me at one of the methods below. Thank you so much for your help in supporting the fair! Mr. Ferris would like to thank these wonderful kids for the fantastic and entertaining Scholars Bowl season. They worked hard and did their best at every tournament we went to, and they placed more often than last years season. They showed great teamwork and welcomed our seventh grade late-comer with enthusiasm, and mentored her through two tournaments. We are proud of each of them!!
