Chase Pep Rally

On Friday, December 19th, Chase High School held its first pep rally of the season. Ms. Jones brought all the students into the school gym for the event. We had a contest between all the classes to see who could be the loudest, since we need strong student support at our games. Each class participated in chants to compete for the title, and the sophomores definitely came out on top. They were awarded a 3D-printed paw print designed by our own Robotics class.

Little Pig, Little Pig

The fourth- through seventh-grade classes completed a project on pigs in their Introduction to Agriculture class. Each student selected a specific pig breed and researched information about it. They were required to share several types of information, ranging from the size of the pig to the quality of meat it produces.

Each class had the opportunity to present their projects and explain the information they gathered. The project focused on the purpose of raising the pig, the size of the breed, the quality of the meat, and how many litters a pig can have. Students also shared what they learned about proper pig care and presented their findings to the class.

Through this project, students gained valuable skills, including responsibility, teamwork, and a better understanding of agriculture.

Staff Spotlight - Mrs. Staten

Mrs. Staten has been working at Chase School for over seven years. She became a physical education teacher to help kids learn how to move their bodies and take care of them. Mrs. Staten grew up playing softball, volleyball, and basketball. She also did track and cheered.

Mrs. Staten’s favorite part about teaching is seeing kids have their “aha” moments. She hopes students will learn character over skill ability. One of her biggest challenges is helping meet everyone’s needs in just one lesson. Mrs. Staten keeps students motivated and involved by focusing on the small successes instead of the big ones.

She enjoys building connections with students and helping those who may not enjoy sports or P.E. by teaching them new skill components. One thing that might surprise students about P.E. class is that they are more capable than they realize.

Mrs. Staten’s favorite sports and physical activities are women’s volleyball and softball league. Her favorite P.E. game to teach is Eclipse Ball because no one has ever beaten her at it. If Mrs. Staten were not a P.E. teacher, she said she would have become a physical therapist.

One fun fact about Mrs. Staten is that she used to ride motorcycles. She gives this advice to every student about staying active and healthy: you only have one body in this life, so take care of it. Something she wants every student to know is that every student can do hard things. We are glad to have Mrs. Staten as part of the Chase community, and she is the #1 P.E. teacher.

An Adventure at Sterling

On December 5th, 2025, a few of the art students went to Sterling College. The original art session was canceled because some of the teachers either had an emergency or did not show up, so the schedule had to be adjusted. Instead of joining the art group, the students were placed in the business group.

In the business group, they played a Kahoot based on Shark Tank and then watched other students present business ideas inspired by the show. The students who attended the trip were Kylie B, Akira K, Hailey B, Harmony B, and Emmabelle B, and they were accompanied by Ms. Jones. Hailey stated, “It was interesting to watch the teams present their business ideas.”

All of the kids, including Ms. Jones, had a lot of fun at Sterling College.

Free-throws Galore

On December 7th, 2025, the Chase High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams held a free-throw-a-thon that raised $2,000 for equipment, basketballs, and other basketball-related items. Each player had a sponsor who donated $1.00 for every free throw made, benefiting both the men’s and ladies’ basketball teams.
